WELCOME TO TOASTMASTERS AREA OF SINTMAARTEN, DISTRICT 81P.
Greetings from ACB-CL Richelda Emmanuel our current area governor and the first woman area governor of the area Sint Maarten. Sint Maarten is a very unique island where people live in harmony. And now we going to use Toastmasters not only to harmonize and educate people but to motivate and foster, enhance leadership skills in our proud and loving people of Sint Maarten. As a mother I am living example that toastmasters is an inclusive organisation that is benficial to all people and does not discriminate in any manner.
The first Area Governor of the area Sint Maarten was none other than ALS John Hodge. ALS John Hodge is also a founding member of Sint Maarten first Toastmasters Club the Philipsburg Toastmasters Club. Words from ALS John Hodge. "My dream is to institute something important to my country Sint Maarten that will benefit not only myself but include people of my country. It must be something educational and motivational. That is why I along with other other founding members instituted toastmasters in Sint Maarten." By participating in toastmasters, you can realize dramatic improvements in many areas of your life. At work, your communication with employer, associates, and subordinates will become more effective and productive. At home, interactions with family and friends will be easier, more enjoyable, and more fulfilling. In your community, you will become more effective in getting things said, planned, and done.
Clubs are grouped into Areas of three to eight Clubs. Each Area has its own Area Governor, a member of one of the clubs appointed by the District Governor to serve the Area. Area Governors are usually, but not always, members of a club in the Area they are responsible for.
Areas have Area Speech Contests several times a year, with winners from the Club levels going on to the Area Contest. The winner of the Area Contest goes on to the Division. Areas also share area goals, determined by formulas set at World Headquarters, such as "x number of clubs at 20 members in strength" and "x number of CC'S in the various clubs." If an Area meets or exceeds all its goals, its Area Governor is recognized for hard work motivating the clubs.

We would like to thank one of our Founding members and Past Area Governor John M Hodge for really pushing his goal in establishing two new clubs on St. Maarten, making the possibility for us to be able to host an Area Conference. We have been around a long time and we have proven ourselves as a Nation, that St. Maarten is capable and able to execute projects at any caliber. We as toastmasters must continue embracing each other and working as a strong team. Let us look forward to a very successful Area Conference, being one of the best ever. Thank you for your time.
